How to maintain Windows.

The regular maintenance and preventive maintenance is the best way to keep your computer's operating system in shape. While this tutorial is Windows-orientedis also applicable to any other known OS.

Computer maintenance

Windows includes tools to perform some of these tasks. You don't have to use the programs listed above, but they generally do a better job in less time.

It is not necessary to follow all the steps, but it is advisable to follow the order indicated here. In addition, it is always a good idea to disconnect the computer from the Internet and stop the execution of the programmes resident in memory.

1) Remove Viruses and Spyware

There is not much to explain at this point: both are programmes that produce harmful effects. Spyware spies on your actions and the contents of your computer; viruses cause results ranging from formatting your hard disk to downloading pornography.

Solution: look for a good antivirus and antispaware software, either paid (Norton, Panda, etc.) or free. Avira y AVG are free antiviruses that you can use in this case. To fight Spyware I recommend Adaware and Spybot SD are highly recommended. Whichever one you choose should be updated regularly.

2) Uninstall Useless Programs

Easy and simple. It can be done by accessing from Control Panel - > Add or Remove Programs.

But it is not a definitive solution. Often programs leave behind useless files or secondary programs as advertisements. To achieve a complete and successful uninstallation, I recommend PC Decrapifier o Revo Uninstaller.

3) Delete Temporary Files

Temporary files are created for three reasons: when a program cannot allocate enough memory for its tasks, they are backups made by the OS or part of an Internet process. However, after they are used they are not automatically deleted and consume hard disk space.

Windows comes with the Disk Cleanup tool, but I recommend CC Cleaner or Disk Cleaner. They do the same job but with the added bonus of including options for folders and files, as well as providing a detailed report of deleted files.

4) Defragmentation

A process that reduces the amount of fragmentation in file systems caused by the constant movement of data on the hard disk. It is done by physically rearranging the contents of the disk to store chunks of each file together contiguously, so that they can be located more quickly.

At this point I recommend using an external application as the defragmenter included in Windows can take ages to do its job. You can do this with Smart Defrag or Diskeeper to achieve excellent results.

I'm sure these tips for keep your Windows clean They will be of great help to you.

  1. hello, first of all congratulate the person who created this page ..... is quite good, has diverse and useful topics ..... my query in this item is as follows how good is the program tune up utilities compared to those you named for regular maintenance of the PC?

  2. Hello very good info to maintain the computer, I also recommend TuneUp Utilities that performs various maintenance tasks. excellent page.

  3. Very good compilation 🙂

I recommend Avast as a free antivirus, it is undoubtedly the best for me of the free ones, and perhaps even better than some of the paid ones.

Avast in the free version 5 has antivirus and antispyware protection.

  4. The RevoUnistaller is 100% recommended in the free version, the pro version does not make sense to buy.

And for defragmenting I use Defraggler, which is from the same creators as RevoUnistaller (free tb).

    For anti-virus AVG 🙂
