Both in our studies and in any job, it is very important to know how to explain ourselves in public and to know how to present our ideas in the easiest possible way. The success or failure of our ideas and projects often depends on this. Today we will explain how to present an issue in the simplest possible way.
In order to be successful in a presentation of a subject, we must not only focus on the moment of the presentation but also on it is important to prepare everything correctly. Before the moment of truth, it is essential to be well informed about the subject we are going to talk about (even about topics about which we may be asked questions). It is also very useful to draw up a sort of table of contents that we can refer to throughout the session.
Another important thing to note when setting out the issue is that the material we use to accompany our information. We can use power point presentations, graphs, vignettes, images, etc. One thing we must always bear in mind is that these media will never replace our words but will serve as a guide in our explanations.
That said, it is time to talk how to behave in the presentation. The main thing when it comes down to it is to look good and be on time for the meeting. It is also important that we explain ourselves well and never get stuck on any point. If at some point we get stuck on something, it is better to continue with another topic than to stop and show our slip of the tongue. In order for this to happen as little as possible, it is a good idea to practise the presentation at home.
In addition our vocabulary should be as correct as possible evitando expresiones mal sonantes, frases sin sentido, palabras para rellenar vacíos (esto…,pues…). Las palabras que utilicemos también es importante que se correspondan con el tema que vamos a tratar. Suele quedar bastante mal que hablemos de un tema que no dominamos y cuyo vocabulario no conocemos.
Finally, one thing we should always bear in mind is set aside a small amount of time for people to present their questions and opinions.. The presentations are often unclear to 100% and listeners often have questions.
As always, remember that you can go to our forum and ask any questions you may have.
